men-struation*

by melpomene whitehead

Oh, boy. This is an original topic. A single New York woman complaining about men. Well, cmon, we're diving in anyway, so hold your nose and close your eyes.

The other day, an acquaintance of mine called me up on the pretext of being in need of some graphic services. I freelance sometimes if I really need the money, and I guess right now I do, since I didn't hang up on him right away even though the last time I freelanced for his company it was hellacious. I spent hours attempting to interpret his handwriting, which I can only compare to what I believe the retarded son on Life Goes On, Corky's handwriting to look like. If Corky was on acid. Anyway, I'd been typing html codes for a few hours also and I was ready for a break, since my desk at work is at completely the wrong height for a normal human made up of normal proportions, so after about 2 hours I get a really bad ache in my right lower lat. So, this nameless person prattles on about this and that and what I might be doing this weekend, which at that point I was possibly going to see the Chemical Brothers because my boyfriend's father was coming to town so I was "on my own," so to speak. And we chat a little bit about how Exit Planet Dust is brilliant and much better than whatever the newer one is called, and then he says, well if I don't go there, I could always come to his place and have sex, no strings attached.

Now, I can't possibly be the only woman this happens to (as this isn't the first time I've had an "offer" like this), so I'm assuming this is something a lot of men do. My question is, why? Has any woman ever accepted such an "offer"? When I laughed at the nameless one, he made some sort of comment about this not being so outrageous and hey, at least I know that the offer stands.

Face it buddy, there's about 20 people ahead of you who would be quite happy to have sex with me with *strings* attached: dinner, movies, plants, cat toys, exotic drinks, etc. And if I wanted stringless sex, wouldn't it be easy enough for me, as a moderately attractive female, to procure such a service, gratis? Many men are easy.

But back to my question, does this ploy ever work? Men, please email me and let me know. Women, please let me know if you've ever been "seduced" by such an enticing come-on.
